This is an exact replica of Paul Sellers’ keepsake box he designed for Woodworking Masterclasses. You can click here to get access to the course and make one yourself.

The box features a unique combination of curved sides and front, and the ideal joint for box making that has proven its excellence over the millennia – the dovetail joint. The keepsake box also has a unique floating lid and base with the rims carefully shaped for a fine looking appearance.

This particular box was made using the wood from a vintage mahogany drop leaf table. Perfectly straight quarter-sawn sections were chosen for the lid and front so as to not detract from the elegant design, whilst allowing the eventual owner the privilege of daily appreciating the stunning nature of this remarkable wood species that is no longer commercially available.

The keepsake box has a divider along its length, making it ideal for jewellery or other such precious items. Recessed hinges, solid brass. Stopper chain on left side.
